POTJEKHIN Anatoliy Fjodorovich,
Professor, Head of the Theoretical Mechanics Department
Odessa National Maritime University

(21.04.1936 - 26.01.2013)

In Memoriam With a great sadness we inform you that POTJEKHIN Anatoliy Fjodorovich, Professor, Head of the Theoretical Mechanics Department (Odessa National Maritime University), passed away 26 of January 2013.

Being extraordinary scientist , he worked with articles till the end of days. According to his last wish, this site still exist and it will be updated with the stuff that we've got from him.

Extremely creative and thoughtful scientist, brilliant lector, a person of rare personal qualities, dear husband, father , grandfather, he will be missed.

We would like to thank to all relatives, friends and colleagues for their sincere condolences with the loss.

The family

Graduated from the Mechanical and Technological Faculty of the Odessa Polytechnic Institute (Ukraine). After graduating work several years at the plant producing high-precise gyroscope devices. Completed postgraduate courses on the chair of Theoretical Mechanics of the Perm State University (Russia) and was recommended for teaching activity. Since 1967 – Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Head of the Theoretical Mechanics Department of Tambov Institute of Chemical Engineering. Since 1981 Professor, Head of the Theoretical Mechanics Department of Odessa National Maritime University.

The scientific activity is related to researches in the field of theoretical mechanics and its applied sections. Till 1980 the scientific activities, predominantly, were related to vibration-protection of composite elastic systems, since 1980 – to the theory of gravitation, electrodynamics of moving bodies, methodological basis of theoretical mechanics.

Has shown full analogy between the gravity-gyroscopic and electromagnetic fields. Has justified dynamic equations of a gravitational field in post-Newtonian linear and non-linear approaching. Has revealed a capability of amplification of the gyroscopic (vortex or quasi-magnetic) components of a gravitational field in material mediums. Has analyzed and revealed kinematic and dynamic aspects of such basic concepts of theoretical mechanics as a relativity principle, forces of inertia, frames of reference etc. Has indicated principal errors in treatment of these concepts in fundamental science of XX century. For the first time introduced concepts of dynamic and kinematic frames of reference. In this connection, has revealed an inaccuracy of application of dynamic Maxwell equations in kinematic non-accelerated frames of reference and kinematic basic dynamical equation of relative movement of a material particle in dynamic accelerated frames of reference. Has derived exact equations in each of these cases. Has analyzed fundamental for the theoretical physics of XX century optical experiment of Michelson-Morley and has shown, that in the theoretical substantiation of the given experiment the principal error encompassing in that the time of passing of a longitudinal ray was determined with the account of transformations of Galileo, while the time of passing of a transversal ray – contrary to these transformations. As a result has revealed, that the generally accepted interpretation of this experiment and the consequences, made of it, are erroneous. Has shown, that the value of speed of light in vacuum is a global constant, but the interpretation of this constant in the physics of XX century as speed of light relative to each non-accelerated frames of reference, as it is accepted in the STR of Einstein, is erroneous. Has paid attention in this connection that the photon, because it does not have rest-mass, is not subject neither to the first law of Newton, nor to the law of inertia, nor to the dynamic relativity principle of Galileo-Newton. In the article, being the alternate to the similar article of Einstein of 1905, has given the comprehensive solution of a problem of an electrodynamics of moving bodies, not falling outside the limits of concepts and laws of classic physics of Newton-Maxwell.

The results of the scientific and pedagogical activity were brought to total by issuing in 2000 of a "Short course of theoretical mechanics in questions and answers with the analysis of base concepts", which is recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as the textbook for the students of higher educational establishments (in 2004 the second, improved and supplemented edition of this manual was published), collection of the articles "Classic relativity theory" (in Russian.), "Relativity in Physics" (in English.), etc.
